Whether you are active or more interested in a relaxing break, St Minver is the perfect base for exploring Cornwall, with the surfer's paradise of Polzeath, 2 miles from Bramble Park, The fine sandy beach, bordered by rock pools and acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. also has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, runs through the village.
Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village that is 2 miles in the direction of Wadebridge. There is a great choice of top-class restaurants and bars and the real draw is the array of water sports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. There are boat trips from Rock or across the estuary in Padstow, to spot the local marine life and very often you’ll get a look at dolphins in the estuary.
Centrally placed in Rock, St Enodoc golf course is considered to be one of the best in the country. There is another 18 hole course between Rock and Polzeath and a further world class course across the estuary.
BRAMBLE PARK
Five miles away is the charming market town of Wadebridge. Running alongside the River Camel it has an array of privately owned shops and boutiques, pubs and restaurants, as well as an enchanting 1930’s built, family-owned cinema showing all the latest films. The renowned Camel Trail passes through the town, and is a flat walking trail, cycle path and bridleway to either the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed houses and celebrated Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth restaurants or in the opposite direction the trail takes a quieter route towards Bodmin and the surrounding moors. Be sure to stop off at Camel Valley vineyard for a glass of bubbly overlooking the most incredible Cornish countryside or a bit further on is the totally unique, solar powered café, Snail’s Pace, where they serve tempting cakes and coffee, breakfast and lunch.
Within 16 miles drive is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches, another Rick Stein restaurant and a vibrant surfing and social scene.
The two highest peaks in Cornwall, Rough Tor and Brown Willy can be seen from Bramble Park. Take a walk up either and on a fine day you will see both North and South Cornish coasts. The slopes of Rough Tor house an important Bronze age settlement and is the site of a bronze age village in the area.
